said the sun while fading away into the everlasting sea

heartbreaking moons,
epic sunsets,
blazing flags,
sleeping pills,
coma pillows,
claim our suffering
to the unconcerned universe!
drapeaux flamboyants,
soubresauts célestes,
lune de sang,
augure funeste,
soleil levant,
contre-manifeste,
flambeaux tonitruants,
clamez nos souffrances
à l'univers indifférent!
The captain would not listen when the crew politely questioned -
he said he had to hold his course and finally shipwrecked us.
With twenty thousand miles to go to reach our destination,
we sent a message on ahead that said, "Best not to expect us."
Some studied what had happened as if details were salvation -
they only found we had not known how little did protect us.
We tried to take the captain down and relieve him of his station -
and still he stayed the captain, somehow able to deflect us.
The poets and the priests conferred and offered consolation.
"We'll do all that we can," they said, "as long as you respect us."
They say that trouble has a way to bring people together -
if that is true in fact, would someone please connect us?
At least heartbreaking moons are giving nights of peaceful resting -
we lie awake and gaze at them till dreams come to collect us.
Some days we are discouraged, but then we go to breakfast -
the epic sunsets and strong coffee begin to resurrect us.
